Laptop theft at Hawkes Bay RFU.
The Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union today put-out an urgent plea for the return of a stolen laptop and hard-drive containing some of the key planning for the Magpies defences of the Ranfurly Shield next year.
The work tools of co-coach, former captain and former All Black halfback Danny Lee, they were stolen in an overnight burglary of the union’s offices in the Chapman Pavilion at McLean Park, Napier.
Union spokesmen Dan Somerville said it was vital to get the hard-drive back.
“It’s all the information put together by Danny, and it’ll put everything back at least a couple of months,” he said.
The Apple Mac computer was among a small number of items, including a digital video camera, taken after thieves forced entry from the enclosed playing field side of the offices.
The Ranfurly Shield was safe, Mr Somerville said. He said it wasn’t kept on the premises. “And it won’t be after this has happened,” he said.
