New Zealand win 2002 Singapore Sevens.

The 2002 Singapore Sevens started on April 20 and a day later New Zealand took out the title, beating Argentina 21 – 17 in the final.

 Throughout the 2002 calendar year there were 13 international sevens tournaments, with New Zealand winning eight, including the Commonwealth Games Sevens in Manchester.

Day 1:

v Japan.                     Won 26 – 7.   Masoe, Valence, Reid, Evans tries. Valence, Ai’I con.

v Singapore.             Won 59 – 7.  Tuitavake (3), Rokocoko (2), Reid, De Goldi, Karauna, Evans tries. Evans (4) Karauna, Smylie

(2) con.

v Samoa.                   Drew 17all.    Masoe (2), Reid tries. Valence con.

Day 2:

v Fiji (qf.                     Won 20 – 7.   Karauna (2), Valence (2) tries.

v England (semi).     Won 19 – 10. Masoe, Valence, Evans tries. Valence, Evans con.

v Argentina (final).  Won 21 – 17. Rokocoko (2), Masoe tries. Valence (3) con.
