February 24 - 1945 NZ Services squeeze past Oxford University
With a team that included four backs and a forward making their only appearance of the season NZ Services still managed a narrow 14 – 11 win against Oxford University, in Oxford.
A factor in the team chosen for this match may have that next the Saturday NZ Services were to play Paris University in Paris, a season highlight, and one that may had possible players working duty rosters, leave schedules etc to make themselves available.
NZ Services stalwarts who played at Oxford included Clive Geary, Frank Crist, Ray Dalton (a try scorer on the day) and N A Elmes, who also scored.
Scorers.
NZ Services 14: A G Robertson, R A Dalton and N A Elmes tries. W F Crist, pen. goal and conversion.
